Hey Whiskey Lovers:
Here’s the latest at the Shop…
In addition to our 99+ whiskeys that you already know and love, we have beefed up our wine selection to include 20 bottles, most of which are under $20.
We do not have any Pappy Van Winkle in stock at the moment but we hope to have it back sometime this Fall.
If you are looking for something specific off of our “What We Sell” list, please call first to be sure we have it.
Cheers!
Yes, we’re open early. Yes, there was a waiting line that stretched down the block. Yes, we’re sampling two special whiskies.*
Come by the shop and celebrate the wonderful brown spirit… THEN go shopping. It’s much more fun in that order.
*one of these statements is not completely true.
Thanksgiving huntin’ time. Come grab some 101 to help get the leftovers down.
We’ll be closed Thursday. We will be open this Tuesday from 3-11.
Thanks for stopping by, Justin & Co.
Had a wonderful sunny Sunday - not the least of it was stopping by The Whiskey Shop and getting a great recommendation!
… now let’s see if this reblog this and actually update their tumblr!!!
At The Whiskey Shop, there’s no secret that we love our American dram. From the big houses in Kentucky to the crafty shacks everywhere else, we like to showcase Americans making great (and sometimes crazy) juice.
What’s been kept under wraps is our increasing Scotch selection from private bottlers like Gordon and MacPhail and Murray McDavid. Collectors and casual drinkers alike will enjoy the interesting expressions, funky finishes, and post-mortem distillery releases.
Our little list is budding:
Gordon and Macphail:
Glenrothes 8 Year
Mortlach 15 Year
Imperial 15 Year Port Finish (dead distillery, 1010 Bottles Made)
Glen Grant 15 Year
Murray McDavid:
Ledaig 6 Year, Sherry Cask Aged (1100 Bottles Made)
Laphroaig 11 Year, Chateau Lafite Rothschild Cask Aged (1400 Bottles Made)
We are very honored to have Balcones Distilling from Waco, Texas share their spirits with us.
Chip Tate, the President and Head Distiller, will be serving up Baby Blue, True Blue, Brimstone, Rumble, and maybe a few surprises!
Today from 5-7, Chip will be talking about his whiskey and answering any questions you may have. The products they are putting out are extremely special, and will be changing your ideas about what can be done in craft distilling.
For any whiskey nerds (and home brewers) out there, Chip is someone you must meet and pick his brain for a bit. We’re lucky he’s stopping by!
We do have a TV in the shop for football fans while you’re waiting your turn to chat with him.
REMINDER: the L train is not running today. For Brooklynites there is a shuttle bus, for Manhattanites, I’m giving you $5 off your purchase today if you bring a receipt from the cab you took to get here.
Yes, we too have fallen victim to the bitter promise of Irene. There were more than a few of you who came in on Friday for your tempest-toppling tipple. Good luck to those who grabbed palate-challengers to think about all weekend, and cheers to those who grabbed their old standards to keep them company in the bath tub.
Stay safe, everyone. We want a full report next week.
